This roundtable discussion will address the Institute of Medicine’s recommendation to increase the proportion of
nurses with a baccalaureate degree to 80% by 2020. Through a Blue Cross Foundation grant, Indian River State
College was able to promote a seamless transition from ADN to BSN nursing. Included in this presentation will be
The Chair Academy’s 24th Annual International Leadership Conference
enrollment, retention, and completion related to this program. In addition, a discussion of Quality Matters online
instruction success will be examined.

Creating academic environments that grow productivity in a climate of competing demands, strained resources, and
heightened learner and academy expectations for instructional innovation is an ongoing challenge for leaders. Such
circumstances can pressure instructors to adopt instructional approaches and learning technologies without
suffcient refection on their impact on themselves, peers, learners and the academy.
