THE HEART ANd ART OF lEAdERSHIP:
EMPlOyEE ENgAgEMENT ANd WEllBEINg

location: Issaquah LEADERSHIP TRACK

Presented by: Julie Wechsler, Director Student Success, South Mountain Community College, Phoenix, AZ

Leaders sometime struggle between the need to focus on performance metrics - such as the team’s goals,
objectives and desired outcomes - and their desire to build an environment that motivates and energizes employees.
Which is more likely to produce the desired outcomes? Recent research indicates that when organizations focus on
both, employees are more likely to be engaged and experience high levels of wellbeing, leading to improved
individual, team and organizational performance. This session will explore the use of Gallup’s Q12 engagement
survey and wellbeing model, and will share research demonstrating that while each benefts employees and
organizations, it is the use of both that produces optimum results

Participants in this session will:
• Learn how employee engagement positively impacts organizational outcomes
• Learn how to use the Q12 survey to increase employee engagement
• Develop an understanding of a comprehensive model of wellbeing
• Discover the role of managers and organizations in boosting employee wellbeing
• Learn how a focus on both can reduce healthcare costs and increase productivity
