CULTURE KEEPERS: AN EXPLORATION OF VALENCIA COLLEGE’S
PIVOT 360 COHORT-BASED PROGRAM

An organization’s leaders have a signifcant impact on how employees experience the organizational culture.
Developing a methodology for deepening and sustaining a desired culture was at the center of focus when
Valencia developed the signature leadership development program called Pivot 360. This program is an
invitation-only, year long cohort experience for mid - upper level leaders (including faculty leadership) where
those new to the college or new to leadership learn about how we work together in service of our students. The
presentation will highlight the impact of strategies like co-facilitation, cohort learning, and group travel on a leader’s
understanding of the organizational culture and the individual’s ability to act as a “culture keeper.”

The attendees will beneft by:
• Learning about a successful leadership development model
• Exploring ways to build and nourish culture through others
• Hearing multiple perspectives on leadership development
• Considering opportunities in their own institutions to improve culture
• Develop strategies for institution-specifc leadership development







ONLINE COURSES: SUCCESSFUL TRANSITIONING FROM FACE-TO-FACE
TO ONLINE PLATFORMS’ BEST PRACTICES

College and university leaders challenged to meet ongoing student technology demands and platform upgrades
diversify their institutional oferings. Ongoing monitoring and assessment is essential, but transforming courses
beyond the classroom require application of interdisciplinary methodologies from administrators, faculty, and
adjuncts. This session provides participants with best practices from a college administrator, associate profes-
sor, instructor, and licensed teacher with frst-hand experience. Intended to maximize efciency for traditional and
non-traditional students, the session encourages participants to identify institutional challenges but ofer solutions.
A guided discussion and open forum allows participants the chance to share and discuss best practices for their
leadership needs.
Participants will be engaged with:
• Transforming current platforms to best suit institutional needs.
• Integrating student-centered needs into instructional success.
• Modeling successful practices and institutional strategies.
• Recognizing strengths and weaknesses of face-to-face, web-assist, hybrid, and online platforms.
• Brainstorming best online technology practices that suit individual needs.
