Pensacola, FL

Dr. Spicer, has been instrumental in facilitating the team efort to develop strategies and
activities to increase student retention and completion, particularly for frst time in college
students that comprise approximately 12 percent of our student population. Under her lead-

students through the development and implementation of virtual tutoring, volunteer student
mentoring, as well as the implementation of technology to help track students that are at
risk of dropping out or failing. Last year through these eforts, our College graduation rate
increased seven (7) percent.
Dr. Spicer has engaged faculty and administrative staf in a metacognition process to develop
appropriate strategies patterned after the Guided Pathways Model to ensure positive results
in retention and completion. These strategies have been, thus far, a combination of aca-
demic and student services activities provided primarily by faculty and staf volunteers. She
has worked tirelessly as a team member and exemplifes servant leadership in helping the
College achieve success.
