A Student Success Plan is a crucial set of strategies designed to achieve higher rates of student retention and
graduation. Although many national initiatives provide a framework from different perspectives and approaches,
e.g., Achieving the Dream, Initiative in Student Success, Voluntary Framework Initiative, etc., student success
remains elusive unless these strategies are systemic to the institution and multiple stakeholders begin to exercise
leadership in their respective units. How does an administrative team coordinate these efforts to ensure that all units
are in tune with the strategic framework? This session will provide you with the basic elements of a student success
framework that can be further customized to ft your institution’s learning outcomes. It will also outline strategies for
coordinating and empowering leadership across campus constituents, e.g., administrators, faculty and staff, to reach
the goals of your student success plan.

Attendees will beneft by:
• Increasing their knowledge-sharing about how to replicate and expand student success initiatives to assist
students to complete their degrees and certifcates
• Improving their understanding of the different models that provide a student success framework
• Exploring the dynamics of a campus-wide student success initiative
• Empowering academic and student support units to be partners of a cohesive strategic plan Fostering a sense
of ownership in transformational leadership
