Pre-Conference Workshop Biographies
Myles Wakeham, CEO of Edgeneering LLC, and open source evangelist

Myles Wakeham is a veteran computer software innovator and technologist. Hailing from Adelaide, Australia, Myles began his work with personal computers in the early 1980s, and helped shepherd the introduction of the personal computing in the Australian market.  He has worked with the Australian Department of Defense, specifically in the development of life-support systems on submarines in the mid 1980s and eventually migrated to the USA in 1989.  He has worked alongside Dr. Emmanuel Baker, contributing author to DoD software engineering standards and associate of the Carnegie-Mellon Software Engineering Institute.

Myles was an early proponent for the Free Software movement, and open source supporter.  He joined Amgen, now a world leading biotechnology corporation as a Development Manager in their very early history and facilitated the introduction of mobile technologies and large database integration throughout their worldwide offices.  It was during his work with Amgen in the early 1990s, that Myles encountered and worked with Mosaic, the original developers of the Netscape web browser.  After leaving Amgen, Myles has worked with hundreds of clients worldwide, including acting as an expert witness in a landmark legal case against Microsoft Corporation focussing on copyright, representing one of the first cases regarding copyright & proprietary ownership lost in their history.

Today Myles is the CEO/CTO of Edgeneering, a Phoenix based 'Cloud Computing' & software development corporation.  Using almost entirely open source software tools, Edgeneering develop web based software applications, often completely replacing PC desktop software.  Myles' focus is on client empowerment with their own projects & technologies and evangelist for technological evolution through open sharing of digital invention.

Bill Lamb, Vice President of Instruction

Bill Lamb is currently the Vice President of Instruction at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Until 2007, Bill was the Dean of Liberal Arts and Distance Learning at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, KS, where he served in the role of assistant dean, department chair, and writing teacher. He received his Ph.D in Curriculum and Instruction at Kansas State University in 1984, and his Master of Arts degree in English literature from Pittsburg State University in 1974.

Dr. Lamb has received numerous awards including the JCCC AMS Spotlight Award, the Midwest Regional Award for Encouraging Academic Excellence, Who’s Who in American Education, BSA Award of Merit, and the Paul Harris Fellowship Award. Dr. Lamb also has a number of publications and is a frequent presenter at international and regional conferences.

Richard Strand, Dean for Business and Technology

Richard earned his BA from the University of Washington in Business Administration, followed by an MSBA from Boston University, an MMAS in Strategic Studies from the Command and General Staff College, an MA in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College, an MA and doctorate in Public Administration from the University of Southern California.

Richard is a certified Strengths Educator and Advocate.  He has been facilitating discussions on leadership, strengths, positivity and employee engagement for over 30 years.  He is frequently a featured speaker on these subjects at local, state and regional events.  Richard hails from the Pacific Northwest.

Dr. Jeffery Yergler is a Professor of Organizational Leadership and Resource Management

Jeff has an earned BA in Psychology from Westmount College, an MA in Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary and a doctorate of ministry from Columbia Theological Seminary.  In addition he is pursuing a PHD in Leadership from Gonzaga University.

Jeff is a certified Strengths Advocate and has published numerous articles on resilience, leadership, mentoring, and volunteering in various regional and national publications.  Jeff currently resides in the Pacific Northwest.

Ann Krause, Dean, Health/Human/Protective Services

Ann Marie Krause is currently the Dean of Health, Human & Protective Services at Blackhawk Technical College (BTC) in Janesville, Wisconsin. Prior to this position she taught both secondary and post secondary mathematics in Wisconsin and served as the Dean of General Education at BTC. In addition, she co-chaired BTC’s last Higher Learning Commission accreditation self-study process (2000).

She has served in leadership roles in several professional and community organizations. For example, Ann Marie is past president of the Wisconsin Association for Career and Technical Education (WACTE) and is currently serving a second term on the WACTE Board of directors. She is also Wisconsin’s representative on the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) Region III Policy Committee. She has been a member of the Wisconsin Math Council, Inc. Board of Directors many times.

She is a frequent speaker at conferences for organizations such as ACTE, WACTE, and the Wisconsin Math Council, Inc. She has presented week long workshops on applied mathematics for math, science, and technology teachers at the Cray, Sally Ride, and Washburn Academies. Ann Marie co-facilitated middle school mathematics workshops at Millersville University in Pennsylvania for two summers. She is currently facilitating a local year long leadership academy for staff and faculty at BTC.

Lane Glenn, Vice President of Academic Affairs

Dr. Lane A. Glenn is Vice-President of Academic at Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill, Massachusetts. He has a diverse background in education and the performing arts that includes nearly twenty years of teaching and administration in higher education, alongside work as an actor and director for the stage, television and films. Lane also writes for magazines, journals and encyclopedias; and facilitates leadership workshops for higher education professionals and business and industry. A born optimist and former president of his local chapter of Optimists International, Lane seeks solutions to organizational challenges through positive visioning, growth and communications. Lane earned a Ph.D. in Theatre from Michigan State University. He also holds a Master of Arts in Speech/Theatre from Oklahoma State University and a Bachelor of Arts in English/Speech from Northeastern State University. Lane is proud to say he got his start at a community college: Rose State College in Midwest City, Oklahoma

Dr. Therese Lask, Director, Student Support Services

Dr. Therese Lask has worked in Student Services for over twenty years, in four year public and private institutions, and currently at Aims Community College in Greeley, CO. Therese has a diverse background, with experience in Residence Life, Student Activities, New Student Orientation, Academic Advising, and Learning Support Services. She received her doctoral degree in  2008  from the University of Northern Colorado, completing her dissertation is titled: First Generation College Students: Stories of Hope and Resilience.  Therese serves on the Chair Academy's International Practitioner's Board, and is a frequent presenter at national, regional and statewide conferences.
